Joy Snowflakes

Here is a card I made for several different challenges.  They are:

1) Papertake Weekly Challenge - the theme was white and required that white be a major component of the card

2) Shopping Our Stash Challenge # 81 - The theme was "Sentimentally Yours" which required that a sentiment be the focus of the card.  And the item from my stash is the digital stamp that I used.  I have had it for over a year and hadn't had a chance to use it yet.  Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of where I got the digital stamp, so I can't give a shout-out to the designer.  Sorry about that!  Also, this is the first time that I used my snowflake embossing folder.  So I used two items I have had in my stash for a while.

3) Dutch Dare Challenge # 195 - The theme was "Snowflakes"

4) Totally Papercrafts Challenge # 147 - this is a sketch challenge and here is the sketch

5) Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge # 138 - the theme was "Snow" in any form.

Happy New Year!

I made this card for the Crafty Catz Challenge # 163 - the theme was "New Beginnings"

I used half of a cork to make the cork for the card..

Edgy Tree

Here is a card I have made for two challenges.  I want to describe how I made the tree on the left hand side of the card.  I took the paper I was using as background paper and cut the shape of half of the tree out from the left hand side.  Then I glued the background paper to the card stock.  Then, using a craft knife, with the card folded, I very carefully cut around the shape of the the aperture on the background paper.  So then when I opened it up I had a full tree.  I thought it was a really fun technique and I think I will use it again.

Anyway,  here are the challenges I am using this card for:
1) Charismas Cardz Challenge # 49 - the theme was "Christmas Makes"
2) Simon Says Challenge - What is your favorite tool, stamp or project.  Well, I have to say that my favorite tool is probably always going to be my quilling tool.  While I love using multiple techniques, it is the quilling to which I always go back.

Have a Crackin' Good Time

I couldn't resist making a card with a Christmas Cracker when I saw the theme for the Moving Along with the Times Challenge which was "Christmas Crackers"  So here are my snowman and santa pulling (or maybe having a fight over?!) a Christmas Cracker.  I am also using this card for the Crafts and Me Challenge # 114 with a theme of "Why So Blue?" which means that no blues are allowed.

I hope you think it is cute, too.

To a Deer Friend

Here's a card I made for a friend and for the One Stop Craft Challenge # 208 - the theme was a Christmas card for a friend.

I used a template of a reindeer and paper pieced it.  I added a wiggly eye to give the reindeer more dimension.  Then I used foam letters for the sentiment.

The Snowball Fight

Here is the card I created for the following challenges:

1)Totally Papercrafts Challenge # 146 - for the Boys.
2) Perfect Sentiments Challenge # 59 - Anything Christmas with a Sentiment

Simple Symmetry

This was a fun card to make.  I used a handmade template of a Christmas tree and used a craft knife to carefully cut around half of the tree.  Then I backed each cutout with background paper.  You can't really see in this picture, but the background papers do have a very subtle pattern on them.  Then I quilled a ton of tiny tight coils to make up the sentiment.  Finally I added the stars.  I kept the colours simple as the actual design is a bit busy with all the quilling.

I am using this card for these challenges:
1) Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 246 - Red and Green theme
2) Speedy the Fox and Friends Challenge # 137 - Red and Green Theme

Reindeer

I made this card by using a template that I had for the reindeer.  I copied the outline and then filled it in with quilled shapes, which is kind of a speciality of mine.  Then I added the reins from gold ribbon and also the stars.

I am using this for two challenges:
1) Dutch Dare Card Challenge # 194 - Non traditional colours.  I love using blue for Christmas cards.  I don't know why but I think it's fun to use non-traditional colours.
2) Cupcake Craft Challenge # 95 - Merry Christmas

Victorian Scrap Card

Quite a long time ago I bought a set of Victoria Scraps to be used to make cards.  Most of the cards I made with the scraps were done before I began making cards seriously so I don't have any photos of them.  But this was the one scrap I had left.

So I attached the scrap and then stamped the sentiment and quilled some poinsettias.

I hope you like it.  I am using it for the following challenges:
1) Charismas Cards Challenge # 68 - Christmas Theme
2) Moving Along with the Times - Clean and Simple
3) Fab 'N Funky Challenge # 151 - Vintage

Snowflakes

Hi everyone, Another week has come and gone and here is a new card for two challenges

1) Crafts and Me Challenge- Anything Goes plus and optional ornament.  In this card, the large snowflake you see hanging from the cutout can be removed and used as an ornament.

2) Simon Says Challenges - Snowflakes - well, I think that one is obvious

Holly

Here's another card I created for a couple of challenges.  I am still not very expert as using Copic Markers so I am not totally happy with it, but I am getting better, so I guess that is good.

Here are the challenges I am entering:

Sketch and Stash # 102

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes

Bear Season

I made this card for just one challenge:  The Pink Elephant Challenge # 177 - Make it Girly.  So this card is all pink!  Can't get much more girly than that.

Frosty Days

Hi all,

Here is another new card for you.  I made this for a few different challenges and it is also for my friend that loves snowmen (all she gets is snowmen things from me and my sister, LOL).

The challenges I am entering this in are:

Crafty Cats Weekly Challenge # 161 - Recycl/Upcycle.  The way I recycled is that I bought this stamp set last year at my church's rummage sale.  It looked like it hadn't even been used and it cost me $3!  What a great deal.

ABC Challenge - Clear it Out.  As I mentioned I have had this stamp for a whole year and hadn't used it.  I also used flock for snow on the body of the snowman, which I am always forgetting I have.

Fab'NFunky Challenges # 150 - Not a Traditional Christmas Card.  This card is not made in traditional colours, which I quite like to do.  I went with the blue because I thought it showed off the colours in the snowman quite well

The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge # 187..  I liked this sketch because it wasn't too busy while still having enough interest.

Perfect Sentiment Challenge  # 58 - Let it Snow which requires you to incorporate snow in your design in some way.  As I said, I used flock to create snow on the snowman

Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge  - Snow/Winter Theme

By Lori Designs Challenge  # 35 - Winter Theme

Cristmas but not a Card

This is a different kind of challenge for me.  This is a challenge to make anything but a card.  This is a cross stitch that I did on perforated paper.  It is made in 3 sections and then they are stitched together so you can stand up the card like a diorama.  I am giving it to a friend who loves snowmen for Christmas.

This is being used for the following challenges:
1) Totally Papercrafts Challenge # 145 - Anything Christmasy but a card.
2) Going Grey with Scrap Creations Anything but a card challenge

Dimensional Tree

I love making dimensional cards.  The rolls for this tree and fun to do.  I made this card for the Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 80.  This was a photo inspiration and here is that photo

And here is my card:

Bells and Candles

I made this card for the Card Making Mamas Silver or Gold Challenge.

Santa's Sack

Well this one took a LOT of quilling, but I think it turned out really well.  I am entering this in the Our Creative Corner Challenge - Santa is Coming.  Hope you like it.

Four Poinsettias

And here is my card

The Skating Party

Here is a card I made for the Dutch Dare Card Challenges # 193 - the theme was Winter Wonderland.  I grew up in Alberta and Figure Skated from the time I was 5 until I was 16.  So for me, winter meant skating.  No, I'm not a penguin but I think it still meets the challenge criteria.

Snowflake Flurry

Wow, I am busy posting tonight.  Here is a card I made for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 245 - Snowflakes.  I love using snowflakes. They are easy to quill and available in so many different forms.  Great fun.

I am also using it for the Speedy the Fox and Friends Challenge # 136 - No red or green

Here's my entry

Paper Angel

Well this was a fun challenge.  I don't think  you realize how often you use the colours of green, gold or red for Christmas cards.  It was fun to come up with a card that didn't use any of those colours.  I decided to go with a clean and simple card for these challenges.  The challenge this week for the Charisma Cardz Challenge # 47 - Christmas with a Twist.- No red Green or Gold.   Here is the link to their site: Charisma Cardz

I am also using it for the Come and Get it Challenge  - Thinking Blue Christmas are You?

This is a technique called Spreuer, for anyone who is not familiar with it.  Generally you use a tool called a Quilling Comb, although it isn't absolutely essential,  It certainly does make it easier, though.

Row of Presents

Here's another card I made.  This is for the Fab 'N Funky Challenge # 149 which is to have 3 of something on a card.  As you can see, I have chosen to have 3 Christmas Presents.  Here is the link for the challenge site: Fab 'N Funky Challenges

Little One

Hi everyone,

I know it's been a long time since I posted anything.  Lots has been happening in my life and I just haven't done any crafting.  But now Christmas is coming up and I have to get going.  So here is my first card for a long time.

I am using this for the Crafts and Me Challenge # 112 - Ribbon or Trim. Here is the link for their site: Crafts and Me Challenges  I made this card for one of my nephews.

Sponged Flowers

Here is my newest card which I made for 4 challenges:

1) Just Us Girls Challenge # 132 (http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.ca/).  This was a technique challenge and required one to sponge a layer.  I found it quite a challenging technique to do but I think the final result was pretty good.

2) The Going Grey with Scrap Creations (http://scrap-creations1.blogspot.ca/). The theme for this week was "April Showers" and of course what do April showers bring but May flowers.

3) The Fab 'N Funky Challenge # 117 (http://fabnfunkychallenges.blogspot.ca/). The theme was lace and pearls.  I have been looking for a place to use that daisy lace and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.  I also used pearls in the centre of the flowers and also in the top left corner.

4) The Sweet Stamping Challenge (http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.ca/).  with a theme of Girly but no Pink.

Thank You Girl

I can't believe I have finally got 20 followers.  I guess it doesn't seem like much to those of you who have hundreds or thousands, but I feel like at least what I am doing is getting seen by some people.

Anyway, here is a card I am presenting for two challenges:

1) The Card Makin' Mamas Challenge (http://cardmakinmamas.blogspot.ca/) which was to "Get Girlie"
2) The Stamptacular Challenge # 159 (http://stamptacularsundaychallenge.blogspot.ca/). This was a "Freebie" or Anything Goes Challenge

The Musical

This is a new card that isn't for Christmas.  This is the last card that I made for one of my church's choral scholars.  I am entering this card into two challenges:

1) The One Stop Craft Challenge # 178 (http://onestopcraftchallenge.blogspot.ca/).  The theme for this challenge was to use three circles
2) The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge # 154 (http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.ca/). This challenge allowed you to use any previous sketch so I chose to use sketch # 80.  Here is a copy of the sketch

And here is my card

It's All About the Presents

This is a card I am entering in the Speedy the Fox and Friends Challenge # 103 (http://marksfinestpapers.blogspot.com/). The theme for this challenge is "rainbows" and it can be either an actual rainbow or the colours of the rainbow.  I chose to go with the colours of the rainbow.  The quilled presents on this card are in all the colours of the rainbow.  I'm sorry that the colours don't show up really well in the photo.  I took the photo at night, so it didn't photograph as well as I would like.

Merry Christmas Flowers

This is a card I made for the ABC "N is for Neutral" (http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/) Challenge .  This was a fun card to make because of the multiple stamping of the sentiment in different attitudes.

Square Wreath

As you are about to see, I have been on a bit of a Christmas kick this week.  So here is the second of a few posts of Christmas cards made for challenges.

This card was made for Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 213 (http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/).  the theme is Metallica.  The metallic elements on this card are the papers used for the wreath and the quilled bells as well as the stickers.  Actually, it's a whole lot of Metallica (LOL)

Beaded Snowflake

His is a card I made for the Moving Along with the Times Challenge # 145. (http://movingalongwiththetimes.blogspot.com/).  The theme this week was Christmas and as I have said before, it it never too early to start on Christmas.  This is a card I made to give to my niece (I really hope she doesn't read this blog!!).  I love the tiny clothespin with the string of beads hanging from it. I play with beads all the time to make jewellery, so it is fun to add them to my cards, too.  Plus, thanks to my friend Betty for the loan of the snowflake embossing folder.

Happy Anniversary

I made this card for  a few different challenges.  I love doing cards with Butterflies, I think they are such beautiful creatures and there are so many different options available.

1) Going Grey with Scrap Creations Challenge # 109 (http://scrap-creations1.blogspot.ca/). The theme this week is spring and I always think that butterflies are the epitome of spring.
2) The PolkaDoodles Week 15 Challenge (http://polkadoodle.blogspot.ca/).The theme was "Pretty in Pink"
3) Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 212 (http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.ca/). This challenge also had a spring theme
4) The Pink Elephant Challenge # 144 (http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.ca/). This was a colour inspiration using a photo and here is the photo

And here is the photo of my card:

A Trip to France

I made this card for the Moving along with the Times Challenge # 144 (http://movingalongwiththetimes.blogspot.com/ ). The theme for this week was Shabby Chic/Vintage.  I chose to go with the Vintage theme.  I was really lucky to find this sticker and overlay set with the images from France.  So then I chose to quill an Eiffel Tower.  I hope you like it.

The Sky's the Limit

this is the card I made for the other male choral scholar at my church.  It also fits for the Colour Create Challenge # 94 (http://colourcreatechallenge.blogspot.ca/). The colours for this challenge were blue, yellow and white (in case you couldn't figure that out LOL).

Kelsey's Roses

Hi everyone,  I made this card for my niece Kelsey to give to her best friend for her wedding.  The roses are made using a technique I was taught by a local quiller that uses a variety of templates to make the shapes necessary to make the roses.  I don't make them very often because they are very time consuming.  However, for this special card I thought they were warranted.

The card is also being used for The Shabby Tea Rooms Challenge # 110 (http://theshabbytearoom.blogspot.ca/).  The theme this week was Beautiful Roses and the colours were pink, neutrals and aqua.  I think the green of my leaves is slightly more green than aqua but I hope you will accept it.

Sailing Away

I made this card for two challenges.  They are:

1)The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge # 181 (http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.ca/).This challenge was to make a Man's card.
2) Our Creative Corner "Boys and their Toys" Challenge (http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.ca/).  In my opinion all "boys" love toys and the bigger the better.  A sailboat seems to fit that idea.

Beaded Robins

Here is the card I made for the Totally Papercrafts Challenge # 112 (http://totallypapercrafts.blogspot.com/).  I made this as a Christmas card (I love doing Christmas cards all year long so I don't have to make so many when I am busy with other things) but it could be used as a general card.  I just realized that I could have added Santa Hats onto the Robins but I didn't think about it.  I hope you like it.

All Dressed Up

Here is the newest card that I have made.  It meets the criteria for several challenges:
1) Crafts and Me Challenge # 79 (http://craftsandmechallenges.blogspot.ca/). The challenge this week is to use a 3D element.  On my card the flower is 3D.  Actually, it is soooo 3D that my sister wondered how you would get the card in an envelope!
2) The Paper and Such CAS challenge (http://paperandsuchonline.blogspot.ca/).
3) The Totally Papercrafts Challenge # 111 (http://totallypapercrafts.blogspot.ca/). This was a "bingo" challenge.  I used one of the diagonal lines which was the three colours: blue, lilac and pink.
4) Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge # 127 (http://www.craftycatzweeklychallenge.blogspot.ca/). This was also a CAS challenge
5) The Just Us Girls Challenge # 131 (http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.ca/). This was a sketch challenge and here is what the sketch looked like

And here is my card

Checkered Heart

Here is a card I made for the April challenge at Stamp School (http://www.stampschool.com/). The challenge was a photo inspiration with the following colours: pink, green and white.  I added black because I think it made the card stand out more.

By the way, Stamp School is looking for people to enter their challenges, so go check it out!

I created the checkered background by weaving quilling paper. I cut out a heart shape opening on a square of card stock and layered the woven paper behind the opening.  Then I made the spiral roses and cut the leaves by hand.  For the stems I used think floral wire that is covered with green tape.

For God So Loved the World

I made this card to give to my Minister for Easter.  How convenient that I had a few Easter themed challenges to create a card for, also (LOL).  All three of these challenges were Easter challenges.  In case you can't read the sentiment it says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16  The colour is not really clear in the picture but it is a black and white card with only a few tiny hits of colour.

1) The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge # 180 (http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com).
2) The Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 65 (http://craftycardmakers.blogspot.ca/).
3) Card Makin' Mamas Easter Challenge (http://cardmakinmamas.blogspot.ca/).

Sweets for the Sweet

Here is a card I made for multiple challenges.  I die cut the circles for the lollipop and then glued them together into the spiral shape.  I stamped the word "Sweets" using a masking technique to cover the other part of the stamp that said "Tweet" (not so appropriate for the image).  Here are the challenges this card is being used for:

1) Cute Card Thursday Challenge # 211 (http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/). The theme for this challenge was "Candy"
2) Sweet Stampin' Challenge (http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.com/). The theme this week was to use die-cuts and/or doodles.  I am not a good doodler, so I just stuck with the die-cuts
3) One Stop Craft Challenge # 177 (http://onestopcraftchallenge.blogspot.com/ ). The theme was Pastels and die-cuts.
4) The Allsorts Challenge # 149 (http://allsortschallenge.blogspot.com/). The theme was a Colour Bingo.  I stuck with the top line of the bingo which was "Green", "Ribbon/Lace", and "Pink".
5) The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge # 153 (http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/).The challenge this week was to use any previous sketch.  I used the sketch from challenge # 81.

Holly Noel

Today I am presenting the card I made for the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge # 5 (http://christmasstampin.blogspot.com/). The challenge this week was to use your favorite colour combination.  I don't know that I actually have just ONE favorite colour combo but one combo I do love to use is pink and green.  I used a holly stamp and individually colored the berries and the holly.  I drew the letters using a technique I developed that I call the negative reverse.  Then I used rain dots for the dots on the letters.  I hope you like it.

Negative Flowers

I made this card for two challenges.  I really enjoyed making this card because it was interesting to make the flowers negative.  It made it much more challenging to punch out the flower shapes.  I also like the fact that the embossing, the patterned paper, and the flowers mirror each others

1) Fab 'N Funky Challenges # 115 (http://fabnfunkychallenges.blogspot.com/ ). Their theme for the week is embossing.
2) The Papertake Weekly Challenge # 63 (http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/). This was an "Anything Goes" challenge

Into the Spider's Lair

I made this card for two challenges.I made this card for my sister to give to a friend who loves spiders (such a weird thing to love, she has earrings and decorations and who knows what else, very strange but I am happy to indulge her

1)  Paper and Such Challenge (http://paperandsuchonline.blogspot.com/). The challenge this week was to made a card and a matching envelope.  Funny, I always used to make matching envelopes but I haven't done so lately.  So, it was really fun to make an envelope to match.

2) Simon Says Stamp Challenge (http://www.simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/). The challenge for this week was to use your favorite tool.  Well, I don't suppose I have to tell anyone who knows anything about me that my favorite to is A QUILLING TOOL.  So, I quilled the little spiders.
